  • Manuscript in the journal’s standards. You can download the template of the manuscript here;
  • Cover letter for the manuscript;
  • For research involving human beings, the corresponding author must send an approval document from the Research Ethics Committee;

Categories of articles accepted for publication

Original articles: Articles with the aim of disseminating original and unpublished research results that can be replicated and/or generalized.

Review articles: Studies with the aim of being evaluative, critical and systematized, presenting results of original and recent research. Its purpose is to stimulate discussion and introduce debate on relevant and innovative aspects. To do this, authors must explain the review method used, detail the thorough search process and explain the criteria used for the selection and classification of included primary studies. It is essential that these articles are supported by standards of scientific excellence and answer questions relevant to the areas of health. Among the review methods that can be published, the following stand out: Systematic review with or without meta-analysis, integrative or scope review. Submissions of narrative literature reviews will not be accepted.

Protocol for systematic reviews: Protocols for unpublished systematic reviews may be considered for publication.

The Method must contain the type of study, sample, variables, instruments used in the research and the type of analysis. The Results must be concise, and informative and present the main described and quantified results (mean ± standard deviation), including the characteristics of the participants and final data analysis. The Conclusion must strictly respond to the objective, and express considerations about the theoretical or practical implications of the study and its main contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge. Citations of authors, place and year of data collection and acronyms should not be presented. Clinical trials and systematic reviews must present the clinical trial registration number or PROSPERO platform registration number at the end of the abstract, respectively.

Descriptors: from 3 to 6, which allow identifying the subject of the work, in Portuguese (Keywords) and English (Keywords), according to the “Descriptors in Health Sciences” (http://decs.bvs.br) or MeSH (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh) and the Journal may modify them, if necessary.

Introduction: must present the research problem, justification, literature review (pertinence and relevance of the topic) and objectives consistent with the study proposal.

Methods: must identify the type of study (study design or design), the population or sample studied, the selection criteria, the study period and location (when applied), the procedures, the statistical methods (when appropriate) and ethical considerations (approval number by the Research Ethics Committee or Ethics Committee for the Use of Animals and Informed Consent Form).

Results: must be described in a logical sequence. When presented in tables and illustrations, the text must complement and not repeat what is described in them. The Magazine encourages the use of graphic and colour elements to present results.

Discussion: must contain the arguments of the results concerning the literature and the authors' interpretation. It must clearly state the contribution of the work and comments regarding the limitations of the study.

Conclusions (Final Considerations): should highlight the most important findings, taking into account the response to the objective of the study and the implications for the area.

References: it is recommended to use a maximum of 40 updated references (75% from the last five years), which are acceptable outside this period, and if they constitute a fundamental reference for the study, the authors must justify it in the Letter of Introduction of the article.

Figures e Tables: Figures and Tables must be inserted in the text in sequential order, numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text. They must be properly numbered and captioned. If you use figures or tables published in other sources, cite the original source. There is no limit to figures. There is no cost of any kind to authors for coloured figures.

Ethical aspects: in research involving human beings, the submission must contain the number of the Ethics Committee Opinion, as provided for in Opinion 466/2012 of the Ministry of Health, which must be attached to the complementary documents. Likewise, research involving experiments with animals must be guided by the ethical principles adopted by the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (CONCEA) and the number of the Opinion of the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (CEUA) must be informed. The Opinion must be attached to the additional documents.

Manuscript formatting

Work must be typed in Microsoft Word or a compatible format.

DISSERTATIONS AND THESES: Preferably not to use it, as it is considered gray literature.

Tables: The formatting of tables must be carried out using the Microsoft Word table functionality, using Times New Roman font, size 10 and single spacing between lines. Each piece of data to be inserted into the table must occupy a specific cell, separated by rows and columns, ensuring that there are no empty cells. The Table title must be at the top.

It is essential that each column of the table is properly identified so that the data can be understood in a clear and organized manner. Internal dashes in tables should be inserted only below and above the header, as well as in the last row of the table, to highlight key information and visually separate different sets of data.

This instruction must be strictly followed to ensure the correct presentation of information and provide an efficient and accurate reading of the data contained in the tables.

Figures: Figures are visual representations, such as tables, graphs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts and photos. For the identification and reference of these figures in the text, they should be referred to simply as "Figure", followed by the corresponding number (for example, Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). The title of Figures, including tables, graphs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts and photos, must be at the bottom.

Charts: They must present textual information, not numeric, and must be delimited by lines on the sides and with internal lines for better organization. When a table is extracted from other publications, it is necessary to provide the appropriate reference.

Graphs: They must be clear and legible. When a graphic was extracted from other publications, it is necessary to provide appropriate reference to the source.

Schematics, drawings, flowcharts: they must be constructed with appropriate tools and presented in a clear and legible manner. When extracted from other publications, it is necessary to provide appropriate reference to the source.

Photos: Photos must be clear and sent in high resolution.
